Multiple Sclerosis Society - Central New England Chapter
http://www.msnewengland.orgMISSION The mission of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Central New England Chapter is to end the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis. The mission is supported by five strategies: research, advocacy, programs, awareness, and clinical. DESCRIPTION Multiple sclerosis is a chronic, often disabling disease of the central nervous system. For 54 years, the Central New England Chapter of the National MS Society has offered education, support and advocacy programs for people with multiple sclerosis and their families in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. They strive to provide knowledge and assistance to help people with MS maintain the highest possible quality of life. Eighty-three (83) percent of Chapter resources support community-based education, support, and advocacy designed to increase knowledge about the disease and available treatments, improve health and wellness through exercise and emotional support, maximize independence at home and in the community, advocate for public policies that support those with disabilities, and fund vital research making progress towards the cause, a cure, and better treatments. IMPACT The Central New England Chapter improves the quality of life for nearly 13,000 families affected by multiple sclerosis.
