Boston Area Gleaners

MISSION To remedy crops that would otherwise be plowed over and deliver it to local food pantries and shelters. DESCRIPTION Boston Area Gleaners, established in 2004, contacts local Boston farmers to inquire if they have any gleaning or produce opportunities. Volunteers are then utilized to help gather all available produce which is then delivered to local food banks, food pantries, meal programs and homeless shelters in the Boston area. IMPACT Since 2004, Boston Area Gleaners have gleaned and donated 664 boxes (over 13,000 pounds) of produce to charity.
