Computer Testing and Packing at World Computer Exchange
About the World Computer Exchange:
World Computer Exchange provides computers and support services in education, environment, and economic development to help connect more youth to the Internet in 61 developing countries. Note: WCE is also looking for donations of working laptops, tablets and smartphones less than 10 years old. Learn more about donating.
Help bridge the digital divide by testing and packing computers that have been donated for shipments of working sets to schools and community organizations in developing countries. Technical skills are always helpful but are not required; tasks include refurbishing computers, bubble-wrapping pairs of monitors, updating inventory data, bagging mice and power cords, etc. Lunch is provided!
Youth Friendly, 13+: All volunteers under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult over 18 years old. All volunteers under 18 years old must bring a Permission Form signed by a parent or guardian. Please email volunteers@bostoncares.org if you are interested in bringing youth to this event. For general inquiries, please contact the Volunteer Leader.
We may be able to arrange for a ride from Boston from another volunteer with a few days’ notice. If you are driving and are willing to give a ride, please let us know.
At Boston Cares, we recognize that diversity, equity, and inclusion are fundamental values that guide our mission and work. Boston Cares is committed to creating a community where everyone is valued, respected, and can come and participate as their authentic selves. We expect that all volunteers and partners join us in promoting a safe and supportive space for everyone.
