Care for Community Fridge and Tidy Up the Democracy Center!
The Democracy Center works to foster a more vibrant local and global democracy by supporting more sustainable, united and stronger communities of action; they do this by offering material resources, mostly meeting and office space, to grassroots organizations
Roll up your sleeves and support The Democracy Center and Fridge in the Square by tending to the community fridge hosted on the property, cleaning, taking out trash, and generally tidying the first floor of a public progressive community center. This opportunity moves at a gentle pace. Volunteers receive a fun orientation to the space and programs, then work through a checklist alone or in pairs. Volunteers who enjoy this opportunity typically: feel comfortable deciding what order to do tasks in, like a quiet, low-people opportunity, want to put on music and focus on our simple tasks, and are confident in working independently.
Please note: Masks must be worn over the mouth and nose at all times, and vaccination required for all volunteers.
Volunteers may work in pairs or individually. Wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty and closed toe, comfortable shoes.
MBTA Accesible: Short walk from the Red Line (Harvard Square) and also bus (66, 86, 77, 96 and more) *Street parking is very limited so public transportation is highly recommended!
At Boston Cares, we recognize that diversity, equity, and inclusion are fundamental values that guide our mission and work. Boston Cares is committed to creating a community where everyone is valued, respected, and can come and participate as their authentic selves. We expect that all volunteers and partners join us in promoting a safe and supportive space for everyone.
