Prepare and Pack Meals for the First Baptist Church in Jamaica Plain

About the Project: The Centre Food Hub is a food justice program committed to supplying high-quality hot meals to 300 families each weekend. Without you, we would not be able to serve the quantity of people that we do. As more volunteers take interest in our program we will be able to help even more families in need!

The First Baptist Church of Jamaica Plain is an American Baptist Church founded in 1842. The church’s secular program, Centre for Faith, Art, and Justice, caters to programming revolving around these three areas. Their food justice program, THE CENTRE FOOD HUB, caters to hundreds of families who rely on our teamwork to provide healthy food!

Role: Meal packing generally consists of simple kitchen tasks such as cleaning and cutting vegetables, preparing side dishes, and filling recipients' orders based on their dietary needs. Volunteers are tasked with assisting in the preparation of the meals, as well as, maintaining a clean workspace. Kitchen and knife experience preferred. Hairnets and gloves are provided on arrival. All volunteers are expected to help maintain our lovely workspace throughout their shifts.

Please plan to stay for the complete length of your shift! Refreshments are always available for our amazing volunteers!

At Boston Cares, we recognize that diversity, equity, and inclusion are fundamental values that guide our mission and work. Boston Cares is committed to creating a community where everyone is valued, respected, and can come and participate as their authentic selves. We expect that all volunteers and partners join us in promoting a safe and supportive space for everyone.
