Distribute Meals to Families at PHA School!

THRIVE is group of parents & staff at Prospect Hill Academy (PHA) working together to eliminate hunger in their school. Their goal is to offer a supply of nutritious food over weekend, free of charge to families who need it. Any child enrolled in PHA is able to receive these weekly bags of food. Before COVID, bags were distributed on the last school day before the weekend or break; COVID has led to a new Grab & Go distribution method.
Volunteers will be part of the Grab & Go process - bringing bags out to cars or handing bags to families at the cafeteria doors. In addition, volunteers will be calling families to let them know about the new pick-up process.
About Prospect Hill Academy:
Prospect Hill Academy (PHA) is one of the oldest and largest charter public schools in Massachusetts. Located in Somerville and Cambridge, PHA serves over 1,100 students in grades K to 12 from diverse racial, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds. 87% are people of color, nearly two-thirds are low-income, and approximately half come from homes where English is not the primary language spoken.
For COVID-19 Safety, PHA has a box of masks & box of gloves as well as hand sanitizer available to all volunteers. However, volunteers are encouraged to bring their own mask. PHA limits the number of people—staff and volunteers—present in the Cafeteria to 6. PHA asks volunteers to maintain a 6-foot distance between each other at all times.
