Help with Fourth Presbyterian Church Food Pantry

About the organization: Fourth Presbyterian Church has been a part of South Boston since 1870. Situated between two housing projects, the church has at the heart of its mission a commitment to serve the neighborhood, touching the lives of well over 650 people every month.

The Food Pantry takes place twice per month and volunteers are needed to help with unloading food for the pantry, packing food for distribution, and distributing food.

Friday Projects: Volunteers will help with unloading food for the pantry. Volunteers will carry goods from the truck into the church for storage. We may also begin packing bags for guests. Volunteers can expect to do some lifting, standing, and walking up and down steps. Being able to lift heavy boxes is a plus (but not required)!

Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday Projects: Volunteers will help with pantry set-up and packing food bags in the morning. In the afternoon, volunteers will assist with food distribution to clients.

Please keep in mind: Only come if you are healthy and feel safe! Please do not come if you feel unwell (have had a fever in the last 4 days or have had or been exposed to COVID-19 in the last 2 weeks). Also, please do not come if you fall in the high risk category. (We love that you want to help, but you must stay safe!)

The Food Pantry also asks that you bring a mask, scarf, or bandana to cover your face. Also, wear clothes that you do not care if they get really dirty. Wear closed-toes shoes, as well as bring a labeled water bottle. Lastly, dress for the weather.
