Shawmut Garden Clean-up
Volunteers will rake mulch, pull weeds, remove dead plants, prune, and pick up trash and debris.
About the Shawmut Garden:
The Shawmut Garden is a teaching garden in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood. Teachers and students from area schools, as well as adult learners, are invited to visit and learn. Signs at the garden offer information about some of the plants. Spending time observing a garden can be an educational experience by itself: watching pollinators, observing colors and textures, and viewing the seasonal changes which take place. Shawmut Garden extends from Centre Street to Melville Avenue. It was built with assistance from the City of Boston’s Department of Neighborhood Development, and the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA). The Garden is the result of a multi-year collaborative effort between designers, artisans, architects, scientists, teachers, elected officials, and community advocates.
Please note: Wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty. Please wear closed toe shoes. Garden tools and gloves will be supplied (although volunteers are welcome to bring their own), and Clorox wipes will be available to disinfect tool handles between users.
