Volunteer.   Earned Income Tax Credit Coalition Description: The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is a federal tax credit available to many low-income families and individuals who worked during the tax year. This credit is not based on taxes withheld from a person's paycheck, but on how much total income a taxpayer earned over the course of the year. Most people are unaware of the EITC, therefore do not apply for it. The Coalition is a group of community members that promote financial stability, financial independence and asset building. They do this by providing tax preparation assistance at 20 sites throughout Boston and by providing new tools to help people reach existing programs such as free health care and food stamps.
